COMPENSATION COURT.
MASTERTON-FRIDAS
(Before G. B. Davy, Judge, and W, Lowis and E. N. LimroN, Assussora. The Court concluded the hearing of claims arising out of the taking of land for the Kopuaranga section of the railway yesterday, and judgments were delivered during the afternoon, The land in quostion having been taken some time ago, tho claimants will bo allowed 8 per cent interest for one year. The parties will pay their own costs, except Mr G. Gillard, to whom £5 is allowed. The following is a list of the judgments, showing the amounts of the claims, and the compensation awarded;—Evan McKenzie, claim £582 19s, award £16410; A. Stewart, claim £495, award, £ll2lßs l)d; E. and R, McKenzie, claim £259 12s, award, £BO ss; D. McKenzie, c)aim;£263, award £lol7s (id; Mrs Dorset, claim £528155, award, £227; Evan McKenzie, claim £255 9s, award, £BO 10s; G. Gillard, claim £lO5, award, £3O, The total amount claimed was therefore £2490, and the awards made are £790, or less than one third of the claims.
