Herbert Nicholson stated that he took a letter from Masterfcou from Howard to Mrs Howard, Mrs Howard's star deposed %t s)ie was married to Howard on board the Janet Court, on the voyage from England by captain Johii Crawford, there being no clergyra&n on, board. No ovidence was called for the defence, • Mr Holmes addressed tho Bench, submitting that there was nothing in the evidence to connect fclio Godfreys with the Howards. The Bench committed n,ll prisoners for tijial, and and allowed bail to the Godfreys and Mrs' Howard in two sureties of £IOO each, and Howard in Xv/q sureties of £sooandh»aßij«»£SO().' '>
