T. WRIGLEY CHALLENGES MR FANNIN.
. TO THE EDITOJ. Sib—l rah to remind Mr Fannin that if he would adhere to the text in his reply to my letters, it would be more satisfactory both to myself and »11 concerned. He states he was not employed by Mr Perry, nor had anything to do witlujk Tho plans were not got out by MWannin, but, as in Mr Meredith's case; *hen the tenders were opened and tound to be more than it was intended to expend, reduction had to bo made, and there being only £1 difference between the two lowest, they both claimed the right of reduction according to the different items given. The lowest tenderor, Williams & Barker, naturally (on ihis occasion) said "Ko." Mr Cleghorn, having just completed ikej £loooworth of work on tho same premises, said "Yes;" and not being able to agree on tho subject, Mr Fannin was called in as arbitrator, when his decision was, " The lowest tenderer only has the right to make the necessary reductions." I have Mr Cleghorn's authority to state the above. Throughout the whole of this correspondence Mr Fannin has tried to ovadethe point at issue, and introduced every paltry quibble, and sometimes personalities, to avoid giving direct answers to my Btatemonti. In conclusion,' I challenge Mr Fannin to put this case to arbitration, allowing competent men of experience in contracting to hear both sicies of the question, and if the decision is given against us, viz., thatije have received justice, I will give Jjßto the Masterton Hospital and pay costs of arbitration, provided Mr Fannin does the same if ho is found to be in thewrong. I have, etc., Tho3, Wmoik.
