To THE EdITOK, Sib.—lt may be useful these dry times to those who do not already know it, that a very effectual fire beater can he mado with a strip of stout hide, about two foefc by one foot, fastened seouioly on a handle with wire. A bough bocomos useless in a very short time, whereas this is as good after a day's work as when you start. I remain, etc., John 0. Bidwill, To Majre, January 11th 1886.
