FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last, present Messrs Donald, Mafchewa, Bidwill, McDougall, Cameron, Harris and Dowman, Tho minutes of the last meeting were read and the Treasurer's statement was submitted, showing £4lO to the credit of the ordinary account, and £3 10s to the credit of the imprest account, Messrs Donald and McDsugall were appointed to sign cheques/ Accounts amounting to £97 2s 5d were passed for payment. Correspondence outwards was read fronUhe letter book, Letters were read from the Minister of Public Works, respecting the road from Cross' Creek to the effect that the engineer's estimate for a dray road was £2282, and suggesting as an alternative that a footpath be constructed at a cost of £499. It was resolved that a tracing be asked for of the ' road laid off, and that a footpath as suggested would be useless. From Property Tax Department, that voucher for subsidy had been sent TO to the Treasurer. From East County Cpunoil, re joining the Hawke's Bay county in testing the matter of reduction of rates on Native lands. It was resolved that, as the Board's interest in the matter is so small, no action be taken. From Messrs Cameron andMcLood, asking that their properties.be transferred from No. 7 to. N;o. 8. sub-district, It was resolved that the matter staud over for the present. The following tenders were received for the Western Lake Road: Mr Burgess No 1 section 16s (id, No. 219s 6d, No 3 19s 6d (Accepted); D. Reardon No. 1 18s, No. 220 a, No. 3 20s, or 19s per chain for whole; Tomlinson, No. 3 section 20s per chain; T. Wilkinson 20s per chain the whole; A. Dick No. 129s Cd v % 2 2956d,N0.3 30s;J.Hodder-No,i 18s, No. 2 21s, No, 321s'; The tender of'Mr R. Hunter forMc-. Leod's cutting was. accepted. Me Dowman moved, in accordance with notice, that the Ranger's duties bo not extended beyond the Ruamahanga bridge. Mr Harris seconded.
