Tiie ordinary fortnightly- meeting of the Council was held last night, Present— The Mayor, Cr Gapper, Bacon, Heron, Williams, Perry, Chamberlain, Muir, and Mason. Heggie, offering to water the main road for £1 per week, and to he allowed to collect from the tradesmen. The Mayor moved, and Cr Heron seconded, That the receipts and expenditure, for the previous year be referred to the Pound Committee, to report upon at the noxt meeting,

The application of the burgesses of Queen street was considered. .The Mayor said it was a question of ways and means whether tho Borough Council should provide'a cart or subsidise any one who undertook to water the streets.
