CARTERTON TOWN BOARD.

Tp ordinary monthly meeting of theCarterton Town Board was held yesterday. Present—Commissioners R. jairbrother (Chairman), A. Campbell, H. Callister, 6. M. Gardener, and W, P. Allen. The minutes qf the meeting were read and confirmed, The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £4llßs lid. •The following correspondence was read From Messrs Beard and-Gray, for New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, asking if the Board would take over a certain piece of land for a pubjjc rp»Wg from on the Belvftere road into section 207, and running to the main road by the Marquis of Normanby It was movod by Mr H. Callister, and seconded by Mr A. Campbell, that Messrs Beard and Gray be informed that the is not disposed to accede to the request of the Lqs;u anij Mercantile Agency Company, but that if tliey will cede the lend for a width of io feet by a length of ten chains from the hotel, for a public road, the Board lyill fivqrably receive the application Frpip Inspectoral Nuisance?, regarding authority to proceed for the suppression of nuisances. Resolved that Mr Philpot be appointed 'lnspector of Health under the Public Healths Act 1876, and any amendments thereof, for the town district of Carterton, to have authority to take all necessary proceedings at law or otherwise, against any person committing any nuisance, or offending against the provisions of the said Act, : ' Prom Mr E, Butler, offering to erect three bridges on Lincoln road for £36, Resolved that the offer be deolined, and that tenders be called for the ereotion of one bridge, formation and metalling'of 17 chains, more or less, on Lincoln road, including the approaches to the bridge.
