(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT) Reoter's Telegrams, Melbourne, November 12th, The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their usual weekly sale this afternoon, when an important catalogue, comprising some 4,200 bales, were submitted, There was the usual large attendance of buyers, and the competition for the different lots was of an animated character. There is no special change to report in the market. Greasy meriuo sold up to eleven pence, and greasy cross breds to eight pence, while the
highest price obtained for scoured Wool was sixteen pence per lb. , Brisbane, November 12. A conflict has occurred between the Legislative Council and the Legislative ABBembly, relative to the payment of members. On July 30th last, the Legislative Council threw out the Payment of Members Bill, which had already passed the Assembly, and the Government intimated at the time that they would recommend His Excellency the Governor to include in the estimates a sum sufficient to pay .the expenses of members of the Assembly for the current session. The recommendation has been, adopted, and the Legislative Council in retaliation has now erased the vote of £7,000 for payment of members from the Appropriation Bill, The proceedings have resulted in a deadlock between the two branches of the Legislature. Rangoon, November 12. King Theebaw has issued a proclamation announcing his determination to exterminate the English and Burmese forces, and to blocade the rivor Irawaddy, so as to prevent the ascent of British troops to Mandalay. Constantinople, November 12. The members of the Conference are in unison on restoring the status quo in eastern Roumelia, but differ as to the best means of obtaining that end. The following was forwarded to us too late fob publication in our yesterday's jssue:—Sentence was passed to day on the prisoners found guilty of abduction or conspiracy in connection with the Armstrong case. Mr Stead, Editor of the Pall Mall Gazette, who was found guilty of abduction, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, while Mr Jacques, of the samo journal, found guilty of conspiracy, received one year. Rebecca Jarrett and Madam Mourey were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment, in the latter case with hard labor.
