WASTE LAND BOARD.

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Waste Lands Board, held yesterday morning, was attended by Messrs J. W. A. Marchant (Commissioner), fl, Bunny, 6. Beetham, M.H.R., W. A. Fitzherbert, T. Mason, and W. W. McCardle, An application by Mr Tanner, selector of section 1598, Block IX., Kairanga, to capitalise, was approved, The Crown lands ranger interviewed the natives who were squatting on the Paratieke Block, and reported that they were willing to leave the block, as they did not know it was Crown land. They wished to remove the crops now growing on th# land.

Notice was given for natives to quit, and permission was prantcd to remove the crops. Mr H. jNitz wrote that he valued the improvements effected by hffion Crown Landß at Kaiwhata at £l5O/and asking that ho be protected to this amount when the Jand is offered for sale. On the motion of Mr Bunny, Seconded by Mr Mason, it was decided that the matter should stand over for further information. It was decided to offer the Manawahoe village for sale on cash and on deferred' payments. It was agreed to otfor sections in Rawakia township reserve on' lease at a rent of Is per acre. A sum of £296 78 was voted to the Manawatu Road Board in connection with the Kairanga Block. It was decided to grant Mr J. Cotter a mineral lease of 16£ acres, Pohangina, fo^». 12 months, subject to certain conditions. : A Similar application by Mr Staite on behalf of the Feilding Quartz Mining Association was referred back to applicant with notification of regulations. Mr E. J. Toomath was informed the Board had no power to leaso or purchase foreshore at Pahautanui: With regard to Mr .Joneß's application to lease foreshore at Pahautanui to cultivate oysters, applicant was requested to forward consent of adjacentowners, afterwards a report to be obtained from tho Commissioner. The Board then adjourned. . .- -
