ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting was held in the Board's offices on Tuesday last. Present —Messrs D. C. Macquarie, (Chairman) Kebbell, and Yon Reden.
The minutes of the ordinaiy and special meetings were read and confirmed. Correspondence was received, from the Masterton Road Board re settlement of accounts; from Property Tax Commissioner, with substituted valuation roll for Crown Lands; from Messrs Oliver and Brown remitting rates for 1885-6 owing by Mrs B, Egan, also amounts of judgments agamst same j from County Council granting permission to the Board to metal certain sections of the AlfredtonEketahuna Road; from Mr Badger re Local Government Guide and Ratepayers' Manual; from Mr Eli Smith requesting that the balance of deferred payment thirds grants be expended in formation on Tawataia road, and offering to do the work for £l3; from Mr Marcliant with plan of Road District, and regretting the delay,
Resolved. That the Clerk be instructed to prepare specifications for metalling, and when these are ready and approved of by the County Engineer, that tenders be called for 45 chains, tenders to close at next meeting, Mr Von Reden to chain and peg the sections That a copy of the Local Government Guide and Ratepayers' Manual be procured for the use of the Board. That Mr Smith's offer to do the work on the Tawataia road be accepted. That a cheque for the balance of Mr Chisholm's contract be passed, to bo handed over to him when the contract is completed. That Mr Saunders superintend the Tiraumea district road contract, and that either Mr Kummer or Mr McLachlan bo asked to finally pass the same. Mr Kebbell recommended the removal of a culvert on the district road (applied for by Mr Cross at the last meeting), and offered to grant his bullocks for removal of the same. Agreed to. It was resolved to call tenders for 12 chains (more or less) metalling on the Eketahuna-Tinui road, on the side cutting leading toward the Ihuraua bridge, tenders to close at the next meeting. Mr Kebbell was authorised to have the slips removed from the district road, and also to have the filling in at the approach to the Te Hoe bridge dbne. Mr Jones having absented himself from four consecutive ordinary meetings of the Board without leave, it was resolved to declare, his seat vacant, the Returning Officer being instructed to take steps to have the vacancy filled.
Messrs Kebbell and Von Reden were authorised to sign cheques. Accounts to the amount of £79 6s 4d were passed for payment.
The next meeting was fixed for the first Tuesday in December.
