A LION AT LARUE.
A Paris correspondent reports the sudden and melancholy ending of a lion named Sultan, who broke away from his cage several days since, and took to inhaling the sea breezes on the beach at St Bervin l'Ocean. His keepers spent three days Bcouring the country in search of him, but without any result. Sultan, however, unfortunately for himself, was observed roaming about the beach by three bathers, who happened to have guns in their possession, having come out on a shooting excursion, preparatory to which they were enjoying a swim. Alarmed at the extraordinary apparition of the leonine wanderer, they lan iCt i their guns and discharged a volley 'of slugs, and Bhot the unlucky beast, Sultan succumbed to his wounds in a short time, and was borne away from St Brevin in a cart, amid the wonder of the inhabitants.
