PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.
An adjourned special meeting was held on October 26th, at 7 p.m. PresentMessrs Davie (in the elmir), Crewe, Hall, and Potter. It was resolved that a. rate of l|d in the £ be struck over special area to repay loan of £lß6l under the Roads and fridges Construction Act. ORDINARY GENERAL MEETING. The adjourned meeting from Saturday, the 24th,' was helc| at 7,30, Present— Messfs Davie (Chairman), Avery, Crewe, Potter, and Hall, The minutes of the special and previous ordinary meetings were read and confinned,
Correspondence-Outwards-To . the Survey Department, re supervision of road work let by Government. To Masterton Road Board, re £IOO PiW'd,
Correspondence—lnwards From Survey Department, with working plans of Mr Greville's deviation of Toritea-Puketoi Road.
Frown Lands Office, ro expenditure of deferred payment thirds, From Bank, stating flxed deposit of £250 had ceased to bear interest.
From Mr H. Sedcole, containing his resignation as a member of the Board, From Messrs Corbettandlgoe, re falling timber on Tiraumea River Road, in front of their section.
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, That tho Chairman's signature and the Board's seal he attached to deed re £IOO award, and the papers returned as soon as possible. Carried.
Resolved that Mr H. Sedcole's resignation be acoepted,
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery that Messrs Covbett and Igoe be informed that they nan fall tho bush on road line on same conditions as others were doing the same work, viz., to be paid fur falling bush when tho line was required for formation. Resolved that Mr Rawson's letter be receive^!
The Overseer's report was read, dealing with all the roads in the district, and the contracts now in progress, Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Potter that. the report as read be adopted. Carried. The Clerk also read a statement, showing \rhat moneys were to credit of the various roads from deferred payment thirds, etc,, as under:—

Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, That the overseer put the Makakahi road in order, and also let the falling on the Mangaone road line for a distance of 320 chains in length, to suit fallers, at a current rate.—Carried,
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, that plans be prepared the whole length of Hall's road, and when ready, that tenders be called for forming 40 chains and erecting bridge over Kuru-natipu.-^Oarried,
Proposed by Mr Potter, seconded by Mr Crewe, That tenders be called for 2 bridges and 1 culvort with approaches on the Township Reserve road to be, in by next meoting.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Potter, That tenders be called for 'forming Toritea Puketoi road from main road to Mangaramarama, about eighty chains. Tenders to be in by next meeting. —Carried.
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Potter, That tenders be called for, in the Woodville Examiner and Wairarapa Daily, and also that the Clerk enquire if any reduction can be made on the present rate for advertisements—Carried.
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, That Mr Beaufort prepare working plans of Toritea-Puketoi and Hall's roads immediately.—Carried. Mr Beaufort handecl in working plans of a deviation made my him on the Tori-tea-Puketoi road, which were approved of, Proposed by Mr Potter, seconded by Mr Avery, That the following accounts be paid: Gpary contract, completed, £l4O 89 3d; Rioux, progrpsq, £QB 10s ; Jordan, progress, £sj Beaufort, engineering, £25; Frasi, plans, £2 2a; Woodville Examiner, advertisements and stationery, £3 2s 6d; Monteith Bros, tools, &c., £3 17s 6d; Doran, tools, candles, etc, £1 6s lOd; Clerk, 1 quarters gajavy, £10; Clerk, obtaining signatures, £6 10s; Clerk, expenses to Woodville and stamps, 12s 6d; McMillan, wages, £l2; Igoe, wages, £2 2s; Mills, wages, £2 2s, Total £283 8s 7d, _ Take a slip of paper and place thereon, in figures, your age in years, dropping months, weeks, and days. Multiply the Wm by twq, tl(en add to t!|e aurn obtained the figures 3,768; ad 4 two and then divide by two. Subtract from the result obtained the number of your years on earth, and see that you do not obtain figures ypu wil} be likely to forget.
