A MATCH-MAKING DOCTOR.
In the course of an examination of a bankrupt named Needham at Manchester the other day, says the London correspqndent qf t]ie Bunedin Sfar, some strange facts transpired with regard to a Dr Batson or Bateson, who, it seems, has recently betaken himself to New Zealand. After tins transaction he proposed to the young lady, and was told to wait three months, Tho girl was a friend of the doctor's, and he had proposed to her two or three times, but had been refused. He (Needham) met her, together with her father and the doctor, 011 a sea voya?e to Ireland. On arrival at Dublin they invited him down to their place, where the doctor made such violent love to buy h'im ; 'or ■wifK ijijlie banliupt and Tottie soon' quarrelled! " It 'was an love affair.
