MASTERTON-OPAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
A general meeting of the MastertonOpaki Jockey Club was held at the Club Hotel on Saturday night There was a •fair attendance. Mr T, Parsons was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the acting Secretary, Mr W, Sellar, and confirmed, Mr B. Kimberley wrote, regretting that he would be unable to act as Steward for the ensuing year. . A similar letter was received from Mr N. Grace. The Chairman stated that the filling of the vacancies rested with the remaining Stewards, and they had already filled them by appointing those next highest
on the ballot, namely,. Messrs G.. Dixon and D, McLachlan, • - : "
Nine new members were ballotted for, and eight elected. The following programme was approved of
Derby of 70 sovs, second horse 10 sovs from the stakes; 1| miles; nomination, 1 sov; general entry night, 1 gov; and 1 sov on the post. " Railway Plate of CO sovs, second horse 10 sovs from the stake; nomination 1 sov; acceptance, 2 sovs; £of a mile. Maiden District Hack Race of 16 sovs, for horses that have never started'for any race; catch weight; post entry, 1 sov; once round the course.
Masterton-Opaki Jockey Club Handicap, of 150 sovs, second horse 20 sovs, third horse 5 bovs ; nomination I sov; acceptance 3 sovs; arid 2 sovs on post; two miles,
Champagne Stakes of 50 sovs, second ■ horse 10 sovs; for two-year-olds—colts 7st 101b, mares and geldings, 7st 61b; 6 furlongs; nomination 1 sov, and 1 sov on •night of general entry. Hack Race of 10 sovs; Bst up; once round the course; post entry 10s, Second Day, Handicap Hurdle Race of 40 sovs, second horse 10 sovs; two miles, over seven flights of hurdles 3ft Gin high ; nomination 1 sov, acceptance 2 sovs. Hack Hurdle Race of 15 sovs; second horse 2 sovs; weight not less than lOst-; once round the course; post entrance 1 sov. District Handicap of 55 bovs, second horse 10 sovs; 1| miles; nomination 1 sov; acceptance 2 sovs, Hack Race of 10 sovs (for horses in actual .use as hacks, and which have never run for other than hack races) ; once round the course; catch weights; post entry 10s. Tradesmen's Handicap of 100 sovs, second horse 15 sovs, third horse 5 sovs; 1| miles; nominations 1 sov; acceptance 2 sovs; and 2 sovs at post. Novel Race of 25 sovs; once round the course; catch weights; the winner to become the absolute property of the Club, and to be sold by public auction ten minutes after the race, and the proceeds to go to the Club; post entrance 1 sov, Consolation Handicap of 25 sovs, second horse 5 sovs; one mile; post entrance 1 sov.
It was resolved that tho duties of Secretary and Treasurer he divided.
