FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.

A nieetinet of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Jas. Donald (Chairman), A. Mathews, McDougall, Cameron, and Harris, The minutes ot the last meeting were read and confirmed,

The Treasurer read his report, shewing £027 Is 6d to credit ot general account, am} £467 9s 2d to credit of imprest account, During the |asips}, ordinary rates amounting to £144 2s sd, and special rates £5610s 4d had been collected. The financial position of each ward, and the separate accounts under the Roads and Bridgos Construction Act wore shown,

Accounts amounting to £256 7s 4d were pasßed for payment againßt the ordinary account, and £ll6 13s 6d against the imprest account. Correspondence outwards was read from the letter book.' Correspondence inwards was read as follows From Warden E, E, Martin, tendering his resignation on account of inability to attend meetings regularly; from Property Tax Commissioner, re rates on Crown lands; from Wairarapa West County, forwarding cheque for £lO due for maintenance of County road, asking whether the Board is willing to continue the present wrangoipit, a>)d notifying that the amount dqe to tho Board (£350) would probably be paid shortly. It was resolved that Mr Martin's resignation be accepted, and that tho Returning Officer take t)>o neoesßary steps to fill the vacancy. 1 ' ' It' was also resolved that this Board is willing to continue the existing arrangement with the County Council. The following tandem for work were then accepted;— Work on Batter-sea road, A. Dick, £2 2s 4d per chain j Ward's line, W. Knapp, £2 per chain. The Engineer suggested that Delman should continue the drain in Kaiwaiwai swamp for a short distance further, Mr Cameron asked that the sum of ten pounds be expended in culverts, etc,, on the Pahaua reserve road,-Granted,

The Clerk was instructed to forward a requisition for imprest payment on account of Ward's line. It was resolved that Mr W. C. Buchanan be asked to act as assessor on the Board's behalf in the matter of Mr 6, Harris' claim,

Resolved, that notice be sent to Messrs Spearink, J. Hodge, and Cave to remove gorse, etc,, fronting their properties. The Collector was instructed to take immediate proceedings for arreara of general rates. The Pouiujkeepey reported receipts for the month at 14s', ' ' The meeting then adjourned.
