CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Board, was held on Saturday last. Present, -Messrs Mackay, (Chairman) Langdon, Handyside, Maunsell, Meredith, and Harvey. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported balance in bank £262 6s 4d, and balance available for future expenditure L39C 19s 2d. Accounts amounting to L3olos 7d were passed for payment, and the Overseer's report was read and considered,

Correspondence was read from the Property Tax Commissioner re rates on Native Lands; from the Chief Surveyor re road through part 2 of section 568 Mungapakeha.

Resolved that a grant be made to repair the Uriti Road, from the main road to Mr Elder's wool-sheds; that tenders be called for necessary work on the road from Oahanga Ferry to the crossing of the river at Glencoe. That a grant be made to assist the Council in making a cutting over the Oahanga Hill That the grant made to improve the road from Tiraumea woolshod to Mr Leach's be rescinded, and that the amount be placed to the credit of the subdivision. That position of this Board does not warrant it in finding a sum of L12219a to assist in metalling in tho Mungapakeha.—Not Carried. ; that the question of finding the above sum for metalling be postponed until it is ascertained what subsidies will be received under the Local Bodies Financial Powers .Bill—Carried; that each subdivision be charged a percentage on the rates collected to meet the general expenditure of the Board; that a sum of L3O voted for the Blairlogie road repairs, conditionally that the Masfcerton Road Board would assist with a grant of L2O, be now expended on that road; that in order to provide for the maintenance of. the Blairlogie road during the current year, the amount of LSI be set aside. .But before any of the said sum be expended the Masterton Board bo requested to contribute a fair share towards the vrork, and that Messrs Meredith,. Maunqell and Langdpn form a deputation pit on that Boar 4 pn the subject. That the overseer be instructed to procure the necessary timber from theTaueru road for repairs to the culvers on Uriti road. The next meeting was for Saturday the 17th October.
