(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) SATURDAY. • LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL,

The Council met at 2,30 p.m. The Colonial Secretary moved the second reading of the Threats and Molestation Bill which was carried without debate. The Railways Authorisation Bill was also read a second time without debate.

The Council went into Committee to consider these Bills, and they were read a third time and passed. The Special Powers and Contracts Bill was further considered in Committee. An amendment was movedin the schedule to strike out the right on tho part of Mr Graham to acquire 300 acres to Kawhia and Kooti Blocks Rotorua, Ayes 17, Noes 17, The Chairman gave his casting yote in favor of tho words being retained, Progress was afterwards reported. Ajfree conference was appointed to confer on the Land Bill,

At 5 o'clock the Council adjourned till 7,80 p,ra, EVENING SITTING.

The Property Tax Bill was passed without debate. The Special Powers and Contracts Bill was reported. The District Railway Purchasing Bill was further considered in Committee, and a new clause added providing that no more railways be constructed under the District Railways Construction Act. After a good deal of discussion, during which Beveral amendments were moved to report progress and the Chairman leave the chair, w'vch were lost, Mr Reynolds intimated that he would continue to move these amendments, rather than see the Council doing work on the Sabbath, At 1.45 a.m. the Chairman of Committee adjourned the Council until 10 o'clock on Monday morning.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The remainder of the Supplementary Estimates were passed. The Local Bodies and Contracts Bill, Property Tax Bill and Costley Training Institutions Bills were read a third time and passed,

At eight o'clock the House adjourned until 9.30, to receive the report of the conference on the Land Bill. At 9.30, no arrangement had been arrived at, and the House adjourned until 11 p.m. and subsequently, to 11.30, and then 11,45, When no .decision having been agreed upon, the House adjourned until 10 on Monday morning.
