THE HUTT TARRING CASE.

In the R.M. Court to-day the case against J. Walden for being concerned in the tarring outrage attheHutt, was heard. Mr Sydney Muir, the victim of the outrage, said he recognised the voice of Walden as one of those concerned in the outrage. A cabman employed by the proprietor whose cab it is alleged was used for conveying the men to the Hutt, it appears left for Sydney about a week after the affair, Evidence was taken to endeavour to show that the handcuffs used on the occasion passed from Mr S. Waters, of Levin & Co., into the possession of the prisoner. Waters awor» positiwly that ho never had any handouffs in his possession. Binci 1858, while another witness swori to Waters havingjmrchased a pair recently at Dawion's ironmonger's shop. A clerk in. Levin's .also swor# that Waters jokingly remarked to him "L«t ui try them on," referring to the handcuffs which lie held in his hands. Smith, a publican,stated that Walden came into his house on the night of the outrage, having tar on his clothes and hands, The case was adjourned until this day week, for the production of witnesses from Haw«ra.
