Melbourne, September 7. Admiral Tryon has replied to the request of the Victorian Government to send a vessel to Auckland Islands to search for survivors from the ship North American, to tho effect that he believes such a search would be useless.
Berlin, September 7th. Senor Canovas del Castillo, Spanish Premier, has forwarded a formal apology to the German Government for tho outrage on the German flag which took place recently at Madrid.
Paris, September 7. Cholera is again spreading in tho South of France, and has made its Appearanco in the department of Horault. Madrid, September 7. A communication has been received by Senor Canovas del Castillo, President of the Council, from the German Government, relative to the occupation of (Jap, In whioh Count Hatzfeldt, tho German Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, informs him that tho commander of the gunboat has disobeyed orders in taking possession of Uap, his instructions being not to occupy the island if, on his arrival, he found the Spaniards in possession. Count Hatzfeldt, in conclusion, expresses a hope that the Spanish Government will continue negotiations with Germany, with a view to the peaceful settlement of the question,
