The Gisborne High School Bill waj com* mitted and progress reported, and leave granted to sit again. The Auckland Railway Land Compensation Bill and th« Rating Act 1882 Amendment. (Naffi Bill were read a second time without Tfiibate. The Mines Act 1877 Amendment Bill and the Mining-Companies A0t1872 Amendment Bill read a third time and passed. The Patea Harbor Board Bill was reported from Committee,

The House met at 2,30 p.m. Captain Russell moved that the report of the Committee on the Napier Gas Company Bill be agreed to. Carried. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.
Mr O'Connor called attention to a question of privilege. He said that an lion, member had stated in connection with a case heard before the Gold Fields Committee, that the petitioner's evidence was untrue.
Some discussion ensued, duiam.which Major Atkinson said he hoped in future witnesses would be informed of the consequences of their making false statements before Committees.

A lengthy discussion took place on a report brought up by Mr Moss for the Public Accounts Committee with raapect to the Waimea Plains Railway Company, The report mis that legislation should b« effected this session to enable the Comp'any to levy, rates. Mr Cowan moved that the report b» referred back to the Committee for reconsideration, on the ground that tho ratepayers should be cousulted.^ A large number of members spoks on the amendment, which was eventually lost on the voices, and the report ordered to lie on tho table."
