PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of tho above Board was held on Saturday last. Present.—Messrs Davie, (Chairman), Whitcombe, Avery, Sedcole Crewe, Hall, and Potter,
The minutes of the previous meeting were road and oonfirmea.
Correspondence outwards—To Commissioner of Crown Landß, asking permission to cut timber on reserve for bridge work; To Mr Rhodes re Toritea Road line bush falling, To Bast County Council re roads through township reserve. To contractor for bridges calling attention to the time. Inwards—Froiii Hughes .Bros., asking for a road to be made between sections 25 and 27.
From Commisioner of Crown Lands, with leave to use timber (iff the reserve.
From County C'Uineil advising the 1 Board to apply to the Survey Department about roads through the township reserve.
From Treasury, stating that Native rates amounting to £l7 lis 7d were paid into the credit of the Board.
From Public Works Department, stating that tho Minister of Public Works would issue a certificate for a loan of £lß6l under tho Roads and Bridges construction Act, when enclosed forms were tilled up and returned.
Proposed by Mr Ciewe, seconded by Mr H, Sedeole, Tlwt a loiter bo sent to the Waste Land Board, re roads through township reserve,—Carried, Proposed by Mr Crowe, seconded .by Mr Avery, That the clerk write to Pro' perty Tax Department pointing out the difference between the two Native rate rolls, and requesting explanation.— Carried.
Proposed by Mr Whitoombe, seoonded by Mr Avery, That the Toritea Road as laid out in first deviation, be adhered to. —Carried.
Proposed by Mr C. Avery, seconded by Mr H. Sedcole, That the Maßterton Road Board be written to asking them if the roads laid out on Section 20, Block Vlll, Mangahao, had been transferred to them prior to January 1884. Carried. The Overseer's report, and the letter suggesting expenditure of deferred thirds, were read.
Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, That the Overseer's report be adopted, and that he have the necessary culverts on sundry contracts put in,- and also that the trees mentioned aB being on the Tirauinea road be felled and any other that are dangerous.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Crewe, seconded by Mr Avery, that the report of the Works Committee be received and adopted. Carried.
Resolved that Messrs Hughes' application stand over till next meeting. Proposed by MrOrewe, seoonded by Mr Whitoombe, that the following acoounts be paid ir-Gundiy No, 2progreas payment, Mangaramajama road, £SO; Jordan, No, 1 pngtMs. payment and deopsit returned, LT'lli; Miller, Furniture, L2lßs; McMillan, wages,L9 12s; Markquiok, wages, 10s Cd; total 'L69 5s 6d.

Carried,. . . ,V w : - Besolved that the Clerk obtsji of prices of fire-proof safes %Jiext,|s. meeting. A petition to the :Boatt! signed by 14 ratepayers asking to expeud the sum of L2Q on miking a road to the school was read. Resolved that the matter stand over till next meeting.
