SUICIDE.
A youth named John Mundy committed suicide either last night or early this morning at Mr \Y. lorns' farm, at the junction of the Ruamahunga and Wangaehu rivers. He appears to have got on a milking stool, tied a leg-rope round his neck, and, having feed the other end of the rope to a beam above, kicked the stool away. The drop dislocated tho neck, although the legt were touching the giound when the body was found. Mrs lorns was tin. first to see it at 7 o'clock this morning, She at unce sent word to Mr A. W, Cave who gave information to the police. Sergeant McArdle despatched Constable. l Connor and Bloasell to the scene, with ai express to bring tho body into town. Dr Hosking also drove down, and, having examined the body, reported as stated The deceased was 18 years of age last April, and had been in the employ of Mi lorns for abovt eight months. Latterly lit had been very melancholy, but there was nothing to indicate that he was likely tr do mischief to himself. His parents live at Akaroa, where his father is postmaster. An inquest is being.held this afternoon,
