EDUCATION BOARD.
(united press association) Wellinqtox, this day. A meeting of the Education Board was held this morning. It ivas decided to advertise fur pupil teachers for the Masterton School. The resignation of Grac; Walton, Masterton, was accepted as, was also that of Mary .Robins, Caiterton, Mr Fairbrother, of Carterton, placed before the Board tiie boundaries of the Carterton, Daletield, and Belvidero Districts. Mr Bunny moved that a deputation wait upon the Minister of Publio Works tomorrow at 10.80 a.m. for the purpose of endeavoring to get free passes for all school children to attend the Exhibition. He said that the letter of Mr Maxwell showed, that fares would be as follows; 2a for ohildren, and 7a for teaohers ;'but thiß was more than thai . charged under the present rateß that as volunteers • travelled free, ohildren who were eduoated free by the state should be. allowed to travel free'and that' instaad of children ooming.to the Exhibition next, week, the excursion should take' place later on, when-the weather would be mora settled; and that the train should leave Wellington not later than 4.25 p.m.,' so aspo-epable the children to get home in good time. ■ Carried,' 'A-successor to Miss Robins, Caiterton, was ordered to be advertised, for. There was oiilv one application'for the position of Assistant at the Masterton School, that of Mi Rbynell. The application was referred to the local. Committee. ■ Mary Sedcole was appointed pupil teacher at Paliiatua. On the motion of Mr Bunny L 6 was granted to' the Waihenga Committee for offices, etc. The erection of a pump and fencing for To White was loft to Mr Buchanan. Tho request for new desks for Claroville was ordered to stand over for the present. On the motion of Mr Bunny it waa decided to aak the Survey Department to lay off teii acres at Alfredton as a sito for a school,
