THE RAILWAY TIME-TABLE.
(To the Editor.) Sir.—l think you will find the strongest possible objection and resistance offered in the Valley south of Masterton to the proposed change in the Railwiy timetable. Many of us in the South want to get more time in the middle of the day to spend iii Masterton'on frequent occasions, but we can, I think, get' this in a much better-way. For a long time now the goods train "runs through each way daily, | and yet the passenger trains are timed I to the same table as ; formerly/. when they were' ; the only trains running. You certainly find the .trains. waiting at station after station untjltime is up. By omitting stoppages ' atsome minor stations with the train up from Wellington in the morningand down from Masrerton in the afternoon, an hour each way could be saved without Breeding the trains. A. train leaving Wellington at 7.30 a.m. could reach Masterton,'without dangerous huny, at 11.30, and a train leaving-Masterton again at 3 p.m. would, I think, easily get to- Wellington <it 7 p.m. The arrangement would be a boon to the large number of travellers from every part ot the district, and would give what is undoubtedly very; much needed, more, I. think, by valloy people, the Wellington people a sufficient interval in' Masterton for the transaction of any ordinary business. I am, &c., Simplex.
