THE SCHOOL EXCURSION.

To THE EDIIOK, Sir,—l had an interview with Mr Maxwell this morning to suggest further reductions in the fares to be charged for the school excursion trip.' I am glad that I was successful in inducing Mr Maxwell to grant a' further reduction from 7s to 6s for adults. Mr Maxwell refused further concessions for adults, because he wishes to limit as much as possible the number that will travel by the train, fearing that if undue facilities are given for adults, the carriages may become overcrowded. The concession is merely for children. It may be said, what advantage is there when the Saturday excursion trains carry second-class passengers at 6s 3d 1 But ity this case the women 'and ohildren' would have the advantage of travelling by first class, the men ana boys by second class. The school tram, phould not bo fixed to run on a Saturday, because the Exhibition is generally crowded on that day, 1 would suggest that a Tuesday or aThuraday should be fixed, and then special arrangements could be made with the Exhibition

Coramitte tohave an entertainment of a suitable ch»ra«ter ; for children. .• lam,&c.. , GEOKOB BSETHAM.'' P.S.-I am incommjmication with the leasee of ihe refreshment space, re providing refreshment for children, ana will write toyou further on the subject,—6,l!.
