The senior Wellington evening paper makes an untruthful st&teipent when it says that residents in the lower portion of the Wairarapa object to the proposal emanating from Masterton, to have the departure of the afternoon train put off till 4 o'clock, because the hour of arrival in Wellington would be too late.for convenience and amusement. The only objection that was raised oamo from Mr Coleman Phillips, and that was only on the; ground that ■the danger of travelling over theKimutaka would beincreased. Hebroughtforward a motion on'the subject in the Wairarapa West County Council, but failed to find even a seconder. As a matter of fact, business people in the lower part of the district have caused the question to be levived by a number of representations they have made. They have to pay frequent visits to Masterton, and finding that the early hour of departure is unsuitable, they are at present compelled to travel by road, The New Zealand Times has fallen into the same error.
