Robert Brown was charged with having, on the 15th instant broken a window m the Post Office, valued at 7s 6d, and pleaded guilty. Constable Cullinane stated that about 8 p.m. on' Saturday he met accussed who asked himto take him to gaol, and upon being .'refused,, broke 5 a window in the Post Office. The constable thereupon took him in charge,' He was under the influence'of drink, but not drunk. Fined £2 and 2s costs, in default of payment to be imprisoned for 14 days.' Prisoner stated lie had no money, BOROUGH BY'LAWU, J. 0. Ingram v Robert Cunningham. —Defendant did not appear. The charge was that defendant had allowed his chimney to catch firo. Fined 5s and 2s costs, Same v John Mutrie.—Allowing a horse to wanderin Johnston-street. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and stated that the horse had strayed out through someone leaving the slip-bars down, and while his wite was going for it, the Inspector got it. Fined 6s and 2s costs.

Same v Christian Madsen. —Allowing a chimney to each fire. Defendant pleaded guilty. Fined 5s without costs, Same v Hans Hansen—Allowing a closet to remain in an improper state. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and offered no evidence; but in reply to His Worship said that he had the nuisance abated as soon as the Lispector spoke to him. Fined Is, without costs. Same v Yee Kee.—Allowing a horse to wander in Chapel-street. Defendant did not appear. Fined 5s and 2s costs.
