The. following notice appeared in the Gatdk ItTrustee Mattcrton Park Reserve appointed, '' Colonial Secretary's Office." " Wellington, 3rd December I§B3. "His Excellency the Governor has boon pleased to appoint Arthur Righy Bunny, Esq., to be a Trustee.of fcW MastortonPark Reserve, Mastertiifemnder ' The Greytown and Park and Cemetojy Reserve Management Act, 1876, vice W, W. . McCardle, resigned, "P. A. Birflfcy." Ho would like it to bo undersrood that the Park Trustees made no Reflections whatever on the character of Mr Arthur Bunny—he was aii estimable man, both as a public man and a gentleman; but they desired to call attention to the scanf; justice they had received at the jjands of the Colonial Secretary, and had asked him (Mr Beetham) to bring the matter forward that they might ft havo some explanation of the treatment received. Mr Stmt thought that Parliament had something better to do than to go into questions of this sort. The reason which induced the Government to appoint Mr Bunny was that he was fitted for the, office, He was not aware that they were ' required by law to appoint the man nominated by the Masterton Park Board. He thought it would he a dangerous thing for a corporation to say that no one was to come into office on tho Board unless he waa appointed by them.
