The officers connected with the Hospital have discharged their duties to the satisfactionof the Committee during the past yean Dr Hosking has as usual beeh regular iir his attendance, and has carefully attended all patients. Mr and Mrs Bulpitt, the custodian and matron, are to be complimented for the admirable order and cleanliness of the Hospital and surroundings. Their unremitting attention to the wants and comfort of the patients is worthy of the highest praise. The thanks of the subscribers are due to Mr J. C. Boddington, the chairman, and to Mr Joseph Payton, the honorary treasurer, for the great interest they have taken in the welfare qf the institution, measure the present satisfactory st&te of the Hospital finances has been brought about by these gentlemen. The Committee desire to bear testimony to the efficient manner in which the duties of. secretary have been discharged by Mr W. Sellar. The increase of subscriptions during the past year is a proof of the attention 110 has given to the institution. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, expressed an opinion that the Bospital and Charitable Aid Bill now before Parliament, was, likaly to be opposed, as he observed ™t Invercagill, Oamaru, and Dunodin ma dissatisfied with it. If it became law, and the Masterton Hospital was brought under a District Board, it would be administered from Wellington. .As the management of the Wellington Hospital during the past few years has not given very great satisfaction, a Wellington Board would probably fail in managing a Hospital at a distance. It would- be moro satisfactory to have the Masterton Hospital incorporated, providing that an incorporated institution was permitted to levy rates. He thought they might congratulate themselves on the fact thai the Masterton Hospital had beenj&yell managed for some years past. spector, Dr Graham, had stated that no Hospital he had visited gave him so much satisfaction. He pointed out that the subscriptions during the past year had.increased 60 per cent., a result which was in a large measure due to the diligence of their Secretary. He also referred to. the excellent work of Mr and Mrs Bulpit, In addition to his ordinary duties, the former had during the past year, parted four roomsandthe front fence, and ereePid two sets of gates and a coal shed. Ho made also special reference to Mr Hugh Williams' kindness in giving the Com-' mittee a right-of-way through Landsdowno and permitting some outbuildings to be erected on that property, also to the liberal donation of £2s'which had been received from Mr G. Beetham, M.H.R.
Mr Oaselberg seconded the motibn, which was carried unanimously. MrPayton was re-elected Hon, Treasurer on the motion of the Rev, W. E, Paige, and Messrs Fitton and Dalrymple were re-appointed auditors. • The following were elected as a Committee for the ensuing year. W. H. Beethain, J. Bennett, Buddljpoddington, Fulton, lorns, Paige, ftfyton, W, Perry, B, P, Perry, and H. Williams. Mr Caselberg explained that, though during the past year lie had as Mayor been an ex officio momber of the Committee, lie had not taken his seat, as the firm which he represented had a contract with the Committee. His absence had been caused through in lack ofmsresfc in the Institution.
A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings,
