PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday 'last, all the members being present.- Mr Davie occupied the. chair. • The minutes of tha previous meeting were read and confirmed. ' CORRESPONDENCE. . Outwards.—To County East, asking .them to proclaim the road through Township Reserve a public road, if not already done;; to Minister, of Public Works, accompanying papers in connection with loan for special area. . Inwards,—From Mr.-J. S. Florence, solicitor, stating Mr Giles"; willingness to complete No. 4 contract when weather was suitable; from County Council, asking Board to send delegates to Masterton on 23rd June past; from Mines Department, asking for exhibits for Exhibition; from Demonstration Committee re opening Awapurua • bridge, inviting the •attendance of members of the Board on that occasion; from Provincial Auditor, asking for vouchers to be forwarded to Wellington to verify expenditure, It was proposed by Mv Whitcombe, and seconded by Mr Crewe, that the circular letter from tho County Council be received and acknowledged—Carried. The Overseer's report, accompanied by the completed plans and specifications of two bridges on the Mangaramarama road was read and confirmed.
It was proposed byMrWhiteombe, and seconded by Mr H. Sedcole, that tenders be called for the erection of four bridges on the Mangaranmrama road, the question of timber to be left to the Overseer. —Carried.
Proposed by Mr Whitcombe, and seconded by Mr Crewe, that the whole Board be the Works Committee, three to form a quorum.—Carried. Mr Crewe proposed, and Mr H. Sedcole seconded, that the Works Committee meet on Friday evening, the 10th inst,, to consider tho recommendations to the Waste Lands Board re tho expenditure of deferred payment thirds; and that they have power to deal,with Gundry's application for progress payment; and that the Committee report at the next meeting of the Board,—Carried.
Proposed by Mr Whitcombe, and seconded by Mr Potter, that the Clerk reply to the letter of tho Demonstration Committee of the Awapurua bridge, stating that the Board will comply with their request.—Carried.
It was proposed by Mr Crewe, and seconded by Mr C. Avery, that £SOO be placed at a'fixed deposit with the Bank, £250 for six months, and £250 for three menths. —Carried.
Mr Sedcole proposed, and Mr Hall seconded, that the whole of the Board's staff have a holiday on the 9th inst. — Carried.
Accounts amounting to £29 7a lid were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned. .
