THE BOROUGH LOAN.
The burgesses will be interested to learn that the Mayor and the Town Clerk, who proceeded to Wellington last week for the purpose of arranging details in connection with the Borough loaiij-lmve been eminently successful in their mission. It will be remembered that the Government Insurance • Association offered to take up the' ,210,000 at per cent, Messrs Oaskldeuo and Bkown were of opinion that the money might be.got at a lower rate, and with this object they interviewed the manager. The result is that one half per cent has been knocked off, the money being advanced at six per cent. By this the burgesses have been saved .£750, that being the difference between the two rates over the whole period. " Now that all the difficulties have been disposed of, no time is likely to be lost in' proceeding with the construction of the gas works.
