MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the Masterton Road Board was held on Saturday. Present-Messrs Beetham (chairman), Dagg, Gunderson, Chamberlain, Johnston, and Meredith. .

The previous minutes were 'confirmed. ' Correspondence was received frbni T. Brown and T. Hurley, requesting the Board to fall the bush on the line of road leading to their sections. From the Treasury, advising payment of £285, balance of grant for Wangaehu road, also £6O 12s 2d, rates on Crown Lands, and acknowledging receipt of debentures under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act. ■/From G.-Moore concerning the Uriti road. Boetliam re Uriti road and the Waipoua overflow. From 0, Macquarie enclosing cheque for debentures, From T. E, Tatham, re special rates. From S. Diamond re Miki Miki bridge, Prom W. and H. Beetham applying for permission to erect a gate near the junction of the Taueru and Brancepeth roads. From the same asking authority to form one chain and half chain road across Maori Land near Taueru. The following resolutions were passed: That the Overseer attend to the application of Mr Geo. Moore. That Messrs Beetham Bros, have liberty to erect the gate applied for, and that the second application be held over for enquiries. That the resolution passed at previous meeting of the Board intending to strike a rate of f d in the £ be rescinded and \i in £ rate be struck. The overseer was instructed to inspect the lines of road applied for by Messrs Brown and Hurley and report at next meeting, That Mr Hunt's application to have a. few chains of logs cleared on the Miki Miki road be acceded to, That a poll be taken on the proposal to borrow money for the reconstruction of the Miki'Miki Bridge. That the resolution passed at a previous meeting re the taking of Tand'fgr'a' road to tlie Uriti shipping place under the Public Works Act, be rescinded. That the £237, W b V '& Board be reduced by the amount paicj to the late Mr EdwinMer.edjthfor fencing and otherwise ph the Trust property. That instructions be giyen tp find put the actual amount expended by the Board on fencing and otherwiso on this property, and furnish the same to the Board by its next meeting, and that Mrs E, Meredith's Trustees be furnished with a copy of the same, MrR. Meredith to be furnished with a copy of tho agreement between the late Mr Edwin Meredith and the Board.

That Mr T. Chamberlain have liberty to erect a gate on the road leading to his property at MikiMiki. That the Board cannot agree to the application of Mr Stuckey's manager (Mr Richardson) to expend a sum in improving the recently metalled road leading to his property, seeing that Mr Stuckey's special rates were reduced by a considerable amount on the understanding that no further expenditure should take place on that road during the year.
