UPPER TAUERU ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting was held yesterday at Bowlands. Present:—Messrs Hawkins, (Chairman) Hood, B. P. Perry, J. Rutherfurd and Wingate. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The Returning Officer reported- that V only one candidate had been elected, viz. Mr B.P.Perry. The Board authorised Mr Farier to give . notice of a new election. Mr Wingate proposed and'Mr'Perry seconded that it is the intention of the Board to levy a rate of § of Id in the £ at the next meeting. The following names were entered in tho Valuation Roll: John Carswell, Thomas Harland, George Mackay, M. McGovorn, P. S. Farrer, the Trustees of. John McKenzie, (in lieu of John McKenzie deceased), A. Wakelin, John Vile, C. Cockburn Hood, John Welch, John Walker, John Nicoll, John McCalmot. Li consequence of the apreement signed by Messrs Hood, Walker, Rutherfurd, and Mackay, in compliance with the terms agreed on at the last meeting, it was resolved that the Board write to the County Council to let the engineer lay off the line at onco for the oxtension of the road to Mr Mackay's property. The following accounts were passed for payment:—For work done on Wingate's ' line, W. Langdon, £1 10s (draying), Herbert, £8 3s Gd (scrub cutting) L. Pol, £4 2s (bush falling). It was also resolved to mite to Mr Llewellyn Smith, surveyor, to requesthim to lay off the road through Pukemaiki to ~ the Mangarae line, The sum of £2 was allowed for clearing away slips from the road near the Maori gardens. Mr T. Vileaccepted£lforthepurposeof putting in a culvert 18ft long, heart of totara, with a drain, the work to be done to Mr Miller's satisfaction. The meeting then broke up.
