MEETING OF CREDITORS.
A meeting of creditors in- the- estate of Morgan W. O'Meara wa3 held at the old Courthouse this morning. The following is a list of. the unsecured creditors:—W. Keester, 13s' 6d; W. Mr Sellar, Deputy Assignee, occupied the chair, and examined the debtor as to what he had, paid to any of his creditors during the-past year, from, which it appeared that he had paid very little, The bankrupt said that he had borrowed the money-to file from Mr G. F. Mansill, and was going to work for him tosquareoff the amount. He had not given him any security, He had gone to Dunedin some time ago, and that had cost him about L2 out of his own pocket, Mrs O'Meara went down to Wellington at that tinio, but camo back the next day, Mr Wiokerson: If the creditors gave you time, would you pay the money off ? That would'depend upon what time was given to him,
Mr Wickerson: You are fond of billiards I believe. Where do you get money? I look into billiard rooms occasionally, but seldom play, I played last night, but my opponent paid for the table, Mr Rapp; My idea is that the creditors are the biggest fools for trusting men that would not work,
The debtor: I have been earning a pound a week; and that wont to keep my family, Mr Sellar: No, no, Your creditors have been keeping you!' Mr Wickerson: He has gone round through three or four grocers, two doctors, two bakers, several butchers, and in fact through all the tradesmen in the town.
