MASONIC.

The installation of W. M. and investiture of officers of St. if ark's Lqdge, Carterton, look place last evening, in the Carterton Assembly rooms, (specially fitted up fpr the oppas|on). There was a yery largo gathering of tho fraternity from all Darts of the district, among those being Bro, W. Sellar, W.M., and officers of the Master ton Lodge, 1430 E. C. Bro. D.P. Player, acting W.M„ and officers, of the Greytown Lodge, E, 0, Bro, 0. M. Brunskill P.M., Bro. H, D, Oakly W.M, and pftloers of gfc. Johns Lodge 1877 E,O, (Featherston), and Bro, L, J, Hooper, R,W,M, of the Thistle Lodge 017 S,O, (Mastcrton). The ceremony was very ably and impressively conducted by Bro, J, Smith, who installed Bro, H, McMaster as W.M„ and invested the following brethren with the insignia of their respective offices, viz, Bro, G, Gardener, S,W, Bro. Baity, J,W, Bro. T. C, Barnard, Secretary, Bro, T, A. Weston, Treasurer, Bro, T, Aoooks, S,D„ Bro, W. Scales J.D. Bro Lindop J.G, Bro. G, Bowles, Tyler,'

Previous to the closing of the Lodge, the newly installed W,M., on behalf af of St, Maitt Lodge, presented Bro. J, Smith with a P.M.Jewel, as a token of their high esteem, and in recognition of valuable services rendered by him in founding St. Marks. _ After the ceremony the Brethren adjourned to the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, where a capital banquet was propared to celebrate the event, -this portion of the programme being entrusted to Host Buckeridge. After doing justice to the substantial viands placed before them, the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts wore duly honored, interpersed with voeal selections, tho following Brethren contributing their quota, Bros. Sellar, Rapp, Elkins, Fitton, Wickcrson, Udy, Elliott, Proctor and Gayfor.Bro. Rapp presided at the piano.
