PUBLIC LIBRARY.

■ COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Library Committee was held at 7 p.m. yesterday. The only business to be transacted was the consjfje'ratiqti of the annual report, which was adopted as'o'rjgitially prepared AMt'AL MEETING. The general meeting then took place, there being about thirty ratepayers and subsprjjjerij prespnt. On jhe motion of Mr Papworth, seconded by Ir Brown. My Feist was voted to the chair, Mr Feist read the advertisement convening the meeting, and explained the business. The Segretery, MrDalrymple, read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which wore confirmed, Tho Secretary read the annual report, which had been prepared by. the committee, and in the absence of a quorum at the last meeting, forwarded to the Borough Council. The Chairman said he did not think it was a customary thing to move the adoption of the report and balance sheet, but if any gentleman present desired to make any remarks, tho meeting would hear him. Mr Papworth said lie understood thatthe report had not been adopted by the Borough Council, but the balance sheet had been. Tho report had been adopted by the Committed' of. the Library that evening.
