CARTERTON TOWN BOARD.
The usual-monthly mooting of tho above was hold at' fche Council Chambers yesterday, Present-Messrs R. Fairbrother (Chairman), A, Campbell, H. Callister, W. Parker, and W, Vickerstaff. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer reported a credit balance of 18s Bd.
The Inspector's report was read, and attention was drawn' to the nuisance caused by Mr T. A. Weston rendering dowu fat at his place. The Inspector was ordered to give him notice to desist; also, to Mr 6. M. Gardener, with respect to •obstructing the public thoroughfare by placing things on the path; and- also to Messrs Caselberg, Burrow, and, Beckett, respecting the unsatisfactory state of the verandahs opposite their places. A letter was read from the TaratahiCarterton Road Board asking this' Board to join with them in respect to the offer made by Messrs Beard & Gray re giving a pice of land for the purpose of widening Belvidere road.
It- was resolved to accept the offer on conditions that Messrs Beard & Gray give the proper title deeds for' the same at their own expense. The Treasurer read the balance sheet for the past year, which showed that <tt the beginning of the year tlieie was just a small balance to the credit of the Board, same as there" is now. The estimated ratable value of property within the township was £09,000. It was resolved that it is the intention of the Board at its next meeting to strike a special rate of £d in the £ on all the ratable property within the town district, payable in one sum on Ist July. Accounts amounting to £3 Os (id were passed for payment and the meeting,terminated. -
