MR PARSONS IN REPLY.
To the Ediiob,
Sid,—ln reply to Mr Hogg, of the 25th inst,, I beg to state as follows :
I. The account ,of the Star is considerably higher than that of the Daily, 11, Mr Hogg claimed 20s expenses for his trip to Wellington, and it was not his fault that he did not get it. If he does not take the 10s, the same aB the other members of the deputation, the opposition has succeeded in saving the Association 20s.
111. Mr Girdwood's report as regards advertising was as follows :—'■' That tenders be called in the following papers, viz:—Wairarapa Star, Woodville Examiner, flawkes Bay Herald, Evening Post, and Lyttleton Times." ''IV. With regard to the assertion made under this number that Mr Hogg made no attempt to influence the advertising, your readers may form their own conclusion,
V. Mr Park did denounce the arrangement of one paper getting all the work of the Association.
VI. If the insinuation regarding Mr Girdwood js untrue", jt gejfaiiijy .seems yery funny j;|iat he should follqiy Mr Hogg whenever he is called upon to support his views, if they are not working into each others hands,
VII, The concluding reference to Mr Park did come from me with a gQod ognr scienco,
In conclusion of a sub-leader the S'ar states that "Mr Parsons passed the rounder amount to Mr Vile and himself for their trip to the Forty-Mile Bush without a murmur." That this is a falsehood must be known to every momber of the Association, as 1 have not been to the Forty-Mile Bush on business of tho Association, nor have 1 claimed any money from the Association on.any whatever, In the same article I am advised. to, lopje ate jjvy bigness and not to meddle witlj publw'ajiajra. The same advice applies with equal force to Mr Hogg and every resident in Mastertpn; but what would beconm of our public affairs if it were followed? It is gratifying that he should have been enabled to spice his article with the contents of my business premises. I have done with this matter through the Press, but should have no objection to meet Mr Hogg before the public.
lam, &c, Tiros. Parsons. [W? Hunk Mr Parsons is right. . The subjecf may .jipiy be • dropped,-Ed. W.D;] ' "" "
