On the motion of the Chairman the members present were appointed a committee to examine the .properties offered for sale to the Trust, and report at the next meeting, ; The Chairman reported that }je Jiad seen the Commissioner of Crown Lands with regard to the Rhodes estate referred to in the resolution which came before them at thoir last meeting, viz., "Ist.

Acres 69and 70 on the plan of said town, in lieu of the road originally described and provided in the Crown Grant of the 6th December, 1858, upon the conditions that ten acres of suburban section No, 104, Masterton (not being an Education Reserve under the Education Act of 1871), and which adjoins the portion of,land already provided for recreation purposes for the people, be granted for the purpose of enlarging the present recreation ground as provided by the Public Reserves Amendment Act, of 1878. 3rd, That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the Commissioner of Crown Lands and to the member for the district, with the hope that effect will be given to this arrangement," Tho Commissioner seemed favorably inclined, and he believed Mr Smith, surveyor, had already received Instructions to carry out, thgneoessary surveys. The resolutions were seconded by Mr Muir and carried. PARK TRUSTEES, On account of the impending elections, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Muir, tliiit the application of the Park Trustees for an increased grant be adjourned till next meeting, ANNUAL REPORT, The Trustees then proceeded to consider the report to be submitted at the annual meeting of electors. The works and finance committees' reports were read and adopted, In compliance with Cr Loasby's motion, calling for a return of all fees received by the poundkeeper during the past financial year, the clerk reported the same to be £1214s 9d,
Aftoc some discussion re the pound, Cr Loasby moved—" T|iat tho poundkeeper be offered £2 pei; year; also all notice fees." Carried.
It decided to hold two sale days in the montli for impounded cattle, viz,, the second and last Saturdays. Qn the motion pf Or Loasby, the resolution tjiat one shilling in the pqund be levied on all ratable property in the Borough and River Board was oonfirmed, The Mayor brought forward a suggestion re dividing the Borough into Wards, and, after some discussion, it was decided to let the subject stand over for next meeting, The Council then adjourned.
