MEETING OF CREDITORS.

An adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Patrick Cookery, livery, stable keeper, was held at the Courthouse yesterday afternoon. The Deputy Assignee, Mr W. Sellar, who occupied the chair, reported that since the last meeting the debtor had filed a schedule of his liabilities and assets. The following is a list of unsecured creditors:—Muir & Dixon £159 Is, A. R, Bunny £3 3s, W. Peny £5 6a 9d, Wickeraon & Waglarid' £ll 2s 7d, E. McEwen £lO, J. Ross £lO, J. Montgomery £IG 3s 9d, G. Heron £3 35,. A'. Hathaway £3 lis 9d, Rapp & Hare £9 4s 4d, H. Falloori'£2l, Kibblewhite & Ranby£4lsGd, J. Hume £l2, A. B. Yates £3 4s, C. F. Gawith £ls, Graham & Duncan £7 9s, W. Dixon £1 15s, Chamberlain Bros. £4 ss, A. Tonka £1 10s; total £29318s 2d. The assets were stated as follows:—Book debts £3lB 7s 6d, buggy £lO, goat 10s; total £328 17s Gd.

In reply to Mr W. Rapp, Mr C. P. Skipper stated that the debtor had no offer to make. Mr Wickerson asked whether there was any prospect of a dividend. Mr Sellar explained that only in the last half hour had he received a statement of the accounts, bo he could not tell. He had made a demand upon Mr Neill for the plant, but with no satisfactory result. Mr E. Diion, to the debtor: You admit that you squandered from £IOO to £2ooupatWanganui? Debtor: I do, How much did you pay away out of the £369.

Oh, several accounts, I paid you 14s, and I spent a lot of money at the Hutfc on the totalisator. I don't know how much I took to Wanganui. I spent it in whiskey. I could have paid my creditors if I had not squandered the £369,

In answer to Mr Sellar: Neill was not present when leashed the £369 cheque, nor did I pay any of it back to him, I toldMcEwen I had the plant for sale after I purchased it by auction. No price was mentioned. I removed the plant from the Club stables about 5 o'clock in the morning. The meeting adjourned till 2 p.m. on Thursday next.
