Constabl* Robert Darby v T. C. Elers. —Furious riding and abusive lanpuage to Joseph Aplin. Mr Beard for the defendant, The evidence went, to show that the defendant oh the night of the 20th February, at Carterton, while riding towards Ifasterton, met Joseph Aplin, who was driving in a trap towards Greytown, Defendant was alleged to have ridden at a furious pace and run right • upon the shaft of Aplin's trap with such force that he was thrown from the saddle, the saddle was torn from the horse's back, and the-shaft was broken. The defendant rose from the ground and began to swear at Aplin, Witnesses were called on both sides, those for the defence proving'that tho defendant was not riding at a greater pace than seven miles an hour, and that the collision was purely accidental, The Court dismissed the information.
A number of civil cases were on the list, in which the amounts were paid in pr the cases settled out of Court. GREYTOWN-TUESDAY. Frank York, a boy of thirteen years, was charged with having illtreated a dog, the property of Mr Curtis, of Papawai, by cutting off a srnaJJ piece of its tail and cutting a slit in its ear, Defeneant was severely reprimanded by the Court and fined 58 and costs. A civil case was partially heard, and adjourned until next sitting.
