London, February 17. It is certain that Victouia's offer will be accepted for the Soudan. The troops are not likely to be called into action before September of the beginning of October, as there is to be no summer campaign. Commenting on the determination arrived at by the Cabinet, the Times expresses regret' that all the Australian colonies aro not allowed a share in the restoring of order in Egypt.
February 18. H. G; Forbes, who. is at the head of the expedition for the south-eastern portion of New Guinea under the auspices of the Royal Geographical Society, states that he is willing to co-operate with the Rev. Lawes in exploring the island. February 19. Bright, barrister, has been, appointed British Commissioner for Fiji, February 20, Mr Blyth, Agont-General for- South Australia, in a speech delivered at a meeting in the London Chamber of Commerce; supported tlio proposal of the. Ashloy party (Under-Secretary for State), to allow the Australian Colonies 'to be represented in the House of Commons through their Agents-General. This was however objected to, and it was suggested that the Colonial representation should not bo allowed to vote.
