CARTERTON-TUESDAY.

A husband applied that a prohibition order might be made against his wife. The Court made the order by consent to apply to the district of Carterton, and Carterton Town.

Constable Robert Darby v Michael Ryan.—Cruelty to aninals, to wit a horse. Defendant did not appear. The evidence of the constable was to the effect that defendant was riding a horse which was so lame as to be going on three legs. Tho Court inflicted a fine of £5 and costs or fourteen days hard labor. E, H. Grigg v James Sunnex.—Defendant waß charged with having on the 17th instant disturbed a congregation assembled for public worship and with having used threatening and obscene language. Mr Sandilands for informant, Mr Beard for defendant.

The evidence was taken upon the three charges at once to save time, For disturbing the congregation defendant was fined £5 and costs 28s, The othor informations were withdrawn.

William Ridgway was charged with having thrown a stone in the public street to the danger of persons passing. Mr Sandilands foe prosecution, Mr Beard for defendant. Evidence was called on both sides, after which the case was dismissed. A case against Albert Nicholson of having thrown aji egg was withdrawn,

A case of a similar nature against Malcolm Nicholson was withdrawn on defendant paying costs, 28s, J. Burrow v John Hume.—Judgment summons, £37. Mr Beard for plaintiff, Mr Bunny for Defendant, Mr Beard endeavored to show by a severe crossexamination of defendant that he had sinctj the date of the judgment (13th of December last) had the means to pay the amount of the judgment. He failed, however, to satisfy the Court, and the summons was dismissed.
