CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of tlje Board was held o]\ Saturday last, Preaant—-Meaare Maqkay (Chairman), Meredith, Langdon, Beliiss, and Warren. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, The Treasurer reported a balance in bank of £328105, and balance available for future expenditure £337 Is 2d. Accounts amounting to £56 2s 2d were passed for payment and the Overseer's report was read and considered. Correspondence was read, from the County Clerk granting permission to expend a grant of £7O on the main road. From the same re drain at Stilborn's, From R. McCullagh re loss of time in the Mungapakeha. From Mrs Owen, agreeing to half cost of lowering the road in itqnt of her hotel, From J. Jepson, with an account for £sl2s 4d,
The following tenders were received for the work at the Flint outting:—J. Henderson £75, T,. P. Girdwood £Bolss. The following resolutions were then passed:—
That the County Council be asked to allow the timber taken out of the old bridges on the Taueru road to be used for repairs on Uriti road, and that a request be made to the County to return timber lent last winter.
That the necessary specifications be prepared for the work at the Tinui hotel and that tenders for the same close on the 21st inst,
That a grant .be made, sufficient to make a cutting round the hill at the first falls on the Akiteo river road.
That the grant under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act for improving the Uriti and Tinui Valley roads be allowed to lapse, as the ratepayers are adverse to tho extra rating, That the tenders for work at Flint cutting be declined, and that the Overseer be instructed to arrange for having tho work done,
That a portion of the cost of surveying the Uriti road for work under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act be charged to No. 5 Sub-division.
That the sum of £B3 be expended annually on the Blairlogie road. That in all cases of loans applied for under the Roads and Bridges Act where surveys are needed, the applicants shall give a guarantee to pay all expenses if the proposal is not carried at the poll. That a sum of' £4O be expended in metalling on the main road between Tinui and Whakataki.
That a sum of £3O. be granted for expenditure on the Blairlogie road provided
the Masterton Road Board supplement this grant by a sum of £2O.
