CORRESPONDENCE.

THE SLUG ON TREES.

To the Editor,

Sir,—Referring to your local in a recent issue on the subject of aslug which attacks plum, pear, and other trees, I am glad to be in a position to suggest a remedy which I have used with excellent results. Mix one tablespoonfull ofhelibore (obtainable from any chemist) with a. quart of boiling water, This is sufficient to make a kerosene tin full of wash by simply adding cold water.. The trees likely to be affected should be examined carefully about this season every year, and as soon 'as it is Been that the slugs are being hatched syringe them well, throwing the wash upwards so as to fall on the upper surface of the leaves. On the following day every slug touched by the wash will be dead; and this process must be repeated till- the eggs are all hatched. Generally two dressings in. a season will be found sufficient. I am, &c., F. G. Moore. ' Maaterfon, January 28, 1885. • -
