BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
A Meeting of the above society was held in the Institute yesterday, PresontrRevs Paige (chairman), Isitt, Mesdames Upper 'and Hacker, and Misses Beard and Caverhill, The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £26 Is 10. Accounts amounting to £5 Ys 6d were passed for payment, Several minor eases of rollef wero reported on as dealt with,. A special case was considered of a man suffering from consumption, whose only hope of relief was a removal to a warmer climate. An amount had been subscribed by his follow sympathisers, and it was determined to supplement ■ the amount for the purpose of forwarding him to Queensland via Sydney, A case of a deserted wife was dealt with and the Society decided to make her an allowance'on the condition that she at/orice laid'an information against her husband for desertion,
