CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
. A special-and general meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last to consider the area to be rated for grants made under the . Eoada and Bridges Act. Present- Messrs Mackay (chairman) Belliss, Handyside, and Harvey. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed,
The Treasurer reported a balance available for future expenditure of £520 3s Id. Accounts amounting to £ll9 Is 2d were passed for payment, The Overseers report was read and considered. Correspondence were read from the Alfredton.Road Board accepting adjustment of.'accounts.- From Public Works.Office stating that the amounts applied for as a loan under the - Roads and Bridges Act were granted. jFrom the Property Tax Committee ri rates on native lands in the Pahiatuai Road District, From Treasury re j rates paid on native lands.. Prom Mr G. Beetham re grant. for roads to Crown Lands,, Pram W.'A. Burlinjj requesting.a road to -be laid off to-his-property," Prom Thomas Cripps applying for same. Prom Mr John (Gross ditto. From Mr A. Nicholls re purchase of tablos. From Mr Henry Burling jun., asking for a.gratyt of: £25 to repair the road to Mr Napier's. From Mr Hawkins, re road at Adams Peak. Prom Mr ilalliman for extention of time. -. From Bank of New Zealand, re irregular endowment of cheque, From Mr Frazi, re roads through lands for which crown grants have not yet matured. From Masterton Road Board, re grant of £4O supposed to be made by this Board towards repairs on Upper Taueru road. From Crown Lands Department stating that Parliament had made no appropriation as required by section 62 of the Roads and Bridges Construction Act 1882, From Mr Jepson, applying for the balance due on his contract, From the county clerk applying to have the Board's overseer to supervise the metalling in Mungapakeha. From same applying for the Boards opinion as to the proposed road over Castle Hill being declared a main road. RESOLVED, That a small sum' be expedned in repairs on the Makirikiri road, That th,e grant for work on the Akitio river road be supplemented. That an estimate of the cost of repairs to the J?akowai road be prepared. That this Board ia of opinion that the road when surveyed over Castle Hill should not be declared a main line but consider it would be a district roatf to serve the Government reserves through which it would pass. That the request of the Council for the Overseer to attend to the metalling in Mungapakeha be granted, I
•That Mr Jepfon be paid the balance due to him for erecting the Office, That the Masterton Board be informed that tois Board is not aware, of any sum of £4O being granted to assist in improving the Upper Taueru. road.

That the Public Works' Department be infoimed that this Board concur in the suggestion made by Mr Connal in respect to us'ng the old formation but not in substituting another line for the one already surveyed, as heavy, compensation would be necessary, That this Board by special resolution passed this day hereby define the portion of the district over which a rate shall be levied in respect to the applications under the Koads and Bridges Construction Act for work to be undertaken ;on the Uriti road and on the Tinui Valley road respectively, An account for £3 18s 4d from Aobanga Station for repairs made to the main line was received and directed to be forwarded to the County Council for payment. . The next meeting was fixed for Saturday the 13th of December,
