OKQWty LANDS TO BE LEASED FORTI-MILE BUSH DISTRICT, •Wairarapa. ; TT is hereby notified that the under- , Mentioned aeolions are open for lease for atom of thirty years, with perpetual right of renewal. _ Written tenderß (m sealed covers) are invited, in accordance with "The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882. The price tendered must be. stated in writing as well as in figures, accompanied by a statutory declaration, toother with six months' ient at.the rata tendered, and a fee of i'l 10s for luasa and registration, to be lodged with the Commissioner of Crown Lands, at the Crown Lands office, Wellington, not later than 4 o'cluck p.m, on Wednesday, the 10ih December, 1884. The tenders will be opened at the meeting of the Land Board on Thursday, the 11th December (the following day,) at 10 o'clock a.m., when the highest tenderer, if the tender shall equal or exceed the upset animal rental per acre fixed by the Board, will be declared the lessee. The tenderers must appear at the Land Board, either in person or by an agent authorized in writim;, on the day on which the tenders are opened. Plana and schedules of the sections, and copiea of the 1 regulations under which leases will be sold and issued, also forms of tender and declaration respectively, can be obtained at the District Land Office, Wellington; at any of the other Land Offices in the colony; and may alao be Been at the Railway-stations and Post Offices in the Welltngion Provincial Disuict. The numbers of the section and block with Ihe name of district, must lie written on the covers;' The letter bein« on " Public Service only," and addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, need not be .stamped, being free of postage ; neither does the declaration require to bo stamped. ■ • • . 'ln the eVent of'any person tendering'for two or more lea?ea the deposit of a sum equ'al'to one halfyear's rent ot the tender largest m amount shall be sufficient, together with the sum .of £lloa. to pay for the lease and registration thereof, paid either in cash, marked cheque, or bank draft, made payable to the Receiver of Lund Revenue, Wellington : "Provided that in the case of a person' teuderiug.for two or more leases, euoh as he may in the aggregate become the lessee of under the Act, namely, in the case wherethe lauds comprised in the several lease 6 adjoin each other, in such case ihe deposit shall be a half-year's rent at the rate tendered for each such loase, and also the suiti of i'.l los, m respect of each such lease, the fee for preparation and registration of same. Any lessee who has fulfilled all con* ditions of improvements within six years can acquire the freehold of his lease on payment of the price fixed at the time ihe lease was granted, provided Ihe payment is made within eleven years of the come mencement of the lease. Note.—Limits of area for each leasee: No lease shall bo tnado to any person owning, nur shall any parson be capable of becoming the lessee under a lease, or a sublessee, who owns any freeluld laud, or land held under lease or liutande under the Crown whereby such person shall beenmo cither ihe owner, tenant or ocoupier iu the whole, either by himself, or jointly with any other person or peivon, including'the lands comprised in the lease, of a "renter area than 640 acres anvwhere in the colony. The sections comprised in Ihe Schedule are situated at Pnhiatua, in the Mangaone Block, in ibe ICopuaranga District, aboct Dreyers' Rock, near Dreyer* town, and front udoii or are adjacent to the main road connecting Masterton and Woodville. Branch toads have been formed through the sections at Dreyer's Ruck, Central Manacone, Hawea, and Pahiatua, at distances respectively from Masterton of about fourteen miles, thirtyone miles, thirty-five miles and forty miles, The Mangahao sections are within fourteen\niles of Ibe Town of Woodville, The Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Napier is now being constructed to a point about seventeen miles north of Masterton. Sites for railway stations have been selected at several points. The whole of the sections are covered with foreßt, the principal trees being tawa, riinu, hinau, rata, knhikatea, with totara in places; the undergrowth is, as a rule, heavy; the general character of the sojl is good, and iri some places is of first-class quality,- the formation.being hmeßtono, clav, marl, sandstone, &c.'
