WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held yes-:' , terday, at which were present Mr J. W; A. Marchanfc (in the chair),. Messrs Bunny, Beeth'amj Mason, and McCardle. The Chairman reported that no land had been sold since the last meeting of tbe board. It was resolved that the application of the Alfredton Road board, with regard to whether deferred payment moneys could only be allocated to the blocks in which the money was raised, or whether it could be directed for works in another block should be favorably considered. The board decided, on the motion of Mr Bunny, that with a view of enabling the members of' the board to befeorae practically acquanted with- /the ' Crown Lands and settlements thay have to deal with, that authority should be obtained from the Minister of Lands. It was decided that compulsory residence on the lands to be offered for lease =in the Forty Mile Bush on the 10th pvox, should be dispensed with-until two years after the commencement of the "term. The application of Mr L. R, Bryant to capitalize his .unpaid instalments , on section 1552, Block IX., Kairanga, was granted. On the motion of* McCardle it was resolved to recommend the Government to withdraw section 4 and 6 Block IX,'. Makanui, for deferred payment, class and section 3 8 and 14, Block IV., Makina, front' the cash class, and offer them all for lease, It was further resolved, on the motion of Mr. Bunny, that the chaifnnin of the School Commissioners should be asked for a reply .to., the letter sent to him on 25th September last as to selling Educational Reserves, Mr Bunny brought the Board the question of surveyors not being available for laying off sections of unsurveyed Crown Lands applied for, and it was.resolved that the Government be requested to inorease the survey staff in order to keep pace with the public requirements, Mr McCardle brought before the Board the question of a piece of land lying alongside the. main road on the Makakahi Block, and .it was decided that the chairnian should report '.'upon the matter.. Thiarcoueluded the business and the meeting l'ose—tf.Z.' Times.
