There is one point only on which his knowledge can be increased, and that is,, the reason why many local flower-growers refuseto exhibit at the Society's shows. The reason Mr Reporter is that local growers have lost. all confidence in the Society's bona fides, and believe they .do not get fair play, either from the committee or the judges,", and the following incident of the late show will prove that there, is something in this contention. One of the judges brought a plant with him,- it was entered in the name of another person, and next day the upright judge awarded 'first prize to his own plant over better local exhibits. This is by no means tbe only .instance I could adduce of similar practices, therefore cease, Mr Reporter to wonder why local growers refuse to submit their plants to tbe tender mercies of the Society. Although some members, of the Committee know of the above mentioned little incident no steps have been taken to alter it, that is to say the Committee will condone the.action of this Judge, and therefore become responsible for it. Can there be any wonder then that a Society which actually encourages such practices has lost public confidence. I am, eta,- -•'■"■" Faib Put. '
